Manual J & S
It’s the middle of winter, the furnace turns on every 15 minutes, and you’re still cold. Is the furnace the right size for your home?Using the Manual J & S calculations, ProComfort can ensure your home and HVAC system work together. The Manual J determines the amount of heat loss and gain that occurs in your home. Each surface of the home is assigned insulation values and an orientation. This calculation will determine the number of BTUs needed to heat and cool a home and/or each individual room. Our design professionals then assess the requirements of the home to select the right sized equipment. This is the Manual S calculation. The majority of today’s heating and cooling equipment is over-sized causing equipment failure and comfort issues. At ProComfort we can ensure your new or existing home is assessed and designed with the proper equipment.
Manual D
Your thirsty, really thirsty. You go to get a drink and the straw is too small to satisfy your thirst. This is what happens when you have a duct system that is not designed properly. The Manual J calculated how much air needs to be delivered to a room. The Manual D calculation uses the air being moved by your equipment, how far away your room is from the equipment, and how fast you want it to get there to determine proper sizing of your duct work. From there, it is up to our design professionals to incorporate the ducts into your home. This is done by evaluating the materials used in the duct work, how was the house constructed and how is the home finished. Each of these factors bare a significant importance in your comfort. By over sizing the ducts your air velocity will be lower and you may have lower temperatures delivered to your room. With undersized ducts, the amount of conditioned air you need will be restricted causing issues with your equipment performance.
HVAC Design
The extra step. That is what you get from a HVAC Design to plan from ProComfort. We modeled your home, sized the equipment, figured your duct work to deliver your air, now we design it to a blue print. This process eliminates field costs, estimating errors, speeds up the heating and cooling installation, and delivers a tool you can use for pre-planning. Just like the blue print to build your home, this is the blue print that delivers your comfort and air quality standards for you to live in.
